Etihad Business Lounge

A Collaborative project to deliver one of Etihad’s global network of first class business lounges. Creating over 50  bespoke elements of furniture, the project’s goal was to create a modern, elegant environment for executive flyers.

Dublin, Ireland

We worked on this project with the Smith Madden design team who had conceived a business lounge featuring bespoke pieces of furniture that would build on Etihads Global network of first class business lounges.

Design Process

The scale and scope of the project required the detailed design and development of almost 50 individual elements of furniture, incorporating all passenger usage areas of the lounge, from the reception desk through to the servery counters. The first phase of the process was to establish how the design would be managed and coordinated, with this plan in place it was down to designing and detailing the furniture by areas. 3D models were used to proof specification details ahead of creating samples and also as a means to relate design options to the client.

The success of this project depended on not only achieving the exacting standards of finish and assembly required of a first class business lounge but to do so while ensuring we matched specifications with those of their other installations. We achieved this through a staged sample approval system which allowed for consistency across all phases of final production. All of the elements which are present in the final installation were test assembled and approved ahead of being fitted on site.

Due to the installation taking place in a working airport, it was essential that all deliveries / site access and installation hours could be coordinated not only with other contractors but also with the exacting security requirements of the site.
